IFC is a memberof the World Bank Group and is headquartered in Washington D.C., United States. Established in 1956, IFC is the largest multilateral source of loan and equity financing for private sector projects in the developing world. IFC has 182 member countries, which collectively determine its policies and approve investments.
Its work in more than a 100 developing countries allows companies and financial institutions in emerging markets to create jobs, generate tax revenues, improve corporate governance and environmental performance, and contribute to their local communities.
